I have always been an athlete. I played soccer and lacrosse in HS and then 2 years of lacrosse in college. After graduating with a masters degree in physical therapy, I married and had 2 children. In 2015 my sister-in-law asked me to do a local mud run with her and that started my love of obstacle course racing. It encompassed almost all of my weekends from 2016-2019, and I did well enough to earn a spot on the Spartan Pro Team.
It all slowed down in 2020 due to the pandemic and I wanted something to fill the competitive void. It came together when I saw fellow Spartan Pro Robert Killian post about his epic experience at TTG. I had no firearms experience myself but I immediately showed my husband Art. He helped me get a firearms permit to purchase my first handgun and helped me build a rifle. I got about 3 days of range practice in before my first TTG competition at Shooters Gauntlet in PA. It was everything I had hoped for and more! I loved the fitness aspect, and the 3 mile mountain run in full kit was awesome! My weakness was the shooting and I knew that going in but I learned a ton!
My physical training has not changed much from the usual. I typically run about 12-15 miles a week and try to incorporate hills as much as I can here in southern New Jersey. I do some functional fitness like slam balls, sand bag carries, bucket and farmers carries since they are all present in Spartan racing as well. Before going to Nationals in November I added some overhead bar movements and some light ruck carries after seeing some suggestive posts. A few weeks back I purchased a 150# sandbag after finding it to be my weakness at the event in NH. I recently started doing dry fire drills at home which has helped me improve my pistol skills. Next up for me will be the team event in WV with my husband as my partner!

I was born and raised in Allen, Texas. As a kid I did all the sports: soccer, hockey, cycling. When I was 22 I went to the University of Kansas. After my time in Kansas, I moved to California for work where I resided until 2017. It was a love hate relationship. The area is so beautiful, but I could not stand the cost of living or politics.
In 2017 when I moved back to Texas I started working at a company that were in the process of developing ballistic rated eyewear for the tactical industry. During my time there I took up competitive shooting, begun training Jiu Jitsu again, and hitting the garage gym hard. I met my now boss Tim at at this company. I got to know Tim (@timkennedymma) over a period of time and loved what he was doing at Sheepdog Response and wound up joining their team.
I have been working for Sheepdog Response the last two years and currently serve as the Director of Operations and eCommerce. I am also a USCCA Concealed Carry and Home Defense Instructor. We have had extensive growth during the two years which is incredibly positive and exciting. Our mission is about empowering people to preserve and protect life. That means I need to always be prepared should the need arise.
My boss Tim has a saying about training that, “if the day ever comes that you have to fight for your life, the only thing that will determine the outcome is if you ever trained and prepared for that fight.” As a 40-year-old civilian The Tactical Games allows you to train under high physical stress and test your training.
I am grateful for all the new friendships I have made through the games. I can’t thank Jared, Jake, the rest of the crew, or the volunteers enough for the amazing events they put on. Thank you to all the other elite competitors who push me to the next level, and all the amazing companies who have supported me along the way. You all make the suffering and fun worth it.

How to safely enter and exit the shooting box at T

How to safely enter and exit the shooting box at The Tactical Games. @halbertjrod demonstrates the correct way to enter the shooting box during a battle at The Tactical Games.
Athletes must be fully inside of the box before drawing the weapon and making it hot (same to unsling the rifle).
After the firing sequence is complete, athletes must drop the slide/bolt, drop the hammer with the firearm pointed at the back berm. They may then holster their pistol or resling their rifle. Then the hands go up and the athlete will verbally yell "CLEAR" before turning around and exiting the shooting area.

5 Sets for Quality:
- 100m Forward Walking Sled Drag (90/55)
- 15 Bent Over DB Row
- 15 DB Bench Press
*Use a moderately challenging load on each of the movements that allows you to stay near-unbroken for all sets.
*Rest 10-15s between movements; rest 2:00 between sets.
Not EVERY workout has to be super intense or leave you utterly destroyed!
Today’s training is focused on moving well and feeling the muscles put in the work.
Concentrate on a continuous, smooth pace through the sled and all DB reps. Change the weight as necessary between sets to provide the appropriate amount of challenge 👍🏼

We have had battle styles from long to short, and heavy to technical. We have tasked our athletes to carry, drag, pull, and throw objects around the battlefield, run/ruck long distances, sprint and shoot accurately from varying distances from 7-400yards.
